Blurb: Stephen is a Queensland-based artist, best recognised for his realistic representations of Australian landscapes, unique still life and portraiture. His oil paintings are developed through a series of layers from underpainting through to the final work. Tonal understudies are used to build three-dimensional depth in each work. Stephen has been influenced by traditional masters’ techniques, fusing these with modern tools and technology. His goal is to construct images of places he has been and subjects that are familiar and personal, invoking shared experience and connection with others.
